My Daddy

My dad lost his job this week. Big surprise but a blessing in disguise. He was trying to do the job of a 20 year old in a 50 year olds body. But its been tough, Roadhouse was his baby and he built it from the ground up and made it one of the most profitable stores and one of the best places to work in Lubbock. Nothing lined up yet but I'm excited to see what doors God opens for him during the next few weeks.

What I love about my dad...
1. His addiction to Diet Coke. I've seen him drink multiple liters in one day. We may not have milk or bread in the house but if we run out of diet coke it requires a run to the store at any hour.

2. He loves to walk around in his underwear. His bedtime routine consists of going into the bedroom, stripping to his underwear, realizing he forgot his nightly bowl of ice cream, running back through the house to get his bowl of ice cream, and going to bed. Brian's finally used to it.

3. His food. I can look through the pantry and fridge and think gosh we have nothing to eat...and he can walk up behind me and make a five star five course meal for the neighborhood. He is the cook in family about 90% of the time and about 90% of the time its steak. Now you know why we go to Lubbock all the time.

4. His sense of humor, always followed by his great laugh.

5. His ability to fix anything, kinda. "Gary-rigged" is term used frequently in their house.

6. He's loved my mom since they were 14.

7. His love of the mountains (which I vehemently hated at 14 but now share). The cabin is appropriately named Lazy D and the best way to sum it up is my dad's favorite bumper sticker - "Pitkin, CO...It's not on a map but neither is heaven."
