Pitkin, Colorado

It's not on a map, but neither is Heaven!

This is the view we had for a week, you can hate me. My parents have had this place for years and I have gone from a painful tolerance at the age of 14 when all I wanted was phone service to a physical need for fresh mountain air every summer. Everything is so much simpler and God feels so much closer but the groceries and gas and too freakin expensive. Now at this time of year the roads are snow packed, so everywhere you go you have two options - snowshoes or snowmobiles. Now don't get any glorious ideas of shiny red 70-mile per hour machines of fun, think 1980's POS that work half the time. I think my dad did that on purpose because him and my brother and Brian spent half the time with the hood up and passing tools around making Tim Allen grunting noises. This is my favorite, notice the animal print seat and name on the back - CHEETAH baby! It goes perfectly with my 8th grade ski suit, known in my family as the purple penguin.

While the snowmobiles get you where you want to go and fast, snowshoeing was one of the funnest things I have done in quite sometime. It makes you feel apart of the wilderness, not like you are tearing through scattering little deer for miles around. The only sound you make on the shoes is HUH HUH HUH as you are panting up the hill. As my mom so graciously demonstrated for us, the snow is quite deep and cold without the shoes...her suit does not have a name, any suggestions?

Here's one of my favorite pictures from our walks, and if you could see all our pictures you would keep looking at Brian and Hunter's backs, I played catch up most of the time we were out walking. Good exercise at over 10,000 feet if you ever get the chance.

My Love Letter to Walker Texas Ranger

So here are some pics of our little guy, who is doing absolutely wonderful! He sleeps alot, eats alot, and is growing like a weed. He is a greater swiss mountain and is just so handsome. We got him on his 8 week birthday and is now 10 weeks. He ways over 10 pounds but we don't own a scale so not sure just how much. Potty training is going pretty good considering, only a few messes on tile, one on carpet, and two on my leg. He does well unless he is playing and he forgets he needs to go or if it is snowing outside. Today is March the 12th and it is snowing outside, it's spring break are you kidding me???? Take me back to Florida where I can put on a swimsuit (not that I want to) and go sit at the beach! One of his favorite things is to come running in our laps and jump up and give puppy kisses, his little ears flop and his tail wags as he bounces our way. So it breaks my heart that we are leaving town tomorrow. Going to even more snow, thank you very much, to our cabin in Colorado. I am so excited to see my family but wish we could do it somewhere else, oh anywhere with running water sounds good. While we are gone for the week Ranger gets to stay at Brian's parents house, and I know they will take great care of him, it still breaks my heart to leave my handsome man behind. Ranger, not an hour will go by that I dont' think about you, except when I am getting a full nights sleep :)

So the last few nights he has been crawling into our laundry baskets. I thought it was absolutely adorable until I looked in the basket and he had been chewing off the handles. No more laundry baskets for you...

Gotta love those puppy kisses!

This is one of my favorites, my two favorite boys in the whole world, serenading me!
Here's a quick glance at our house in the background, those pics to come later.

Will this ride please slow down?

Moving halfway across the country is crazy. Getting a new puppy is crazy. Doing both is madness.
But I love our house and I love our little Ranger. It is ridiculous how cute this puppy is and he is already spoiled. He is the cuddliest little guy and refuses to go to sleep unless he is in your lap but of course he melts my heart and gets his way. But its all worth it because he has figured out how to potty outside.
