Ghetto Fabulous

While at home my mom and I went out to get our nails done. While the little oriental girls are doing our toes she says "I want a flower." "Mom your way out of the jr high age bracket and your white, you don't need a flower." Unfortunately the orientals (by the way no rasicm here) pick up on the word "flower" and start selling. "You need flower, so pretty! You need flower!" So my mom gets a flower and then they won't leave me alone. So I think ok its just a flower and if I hate it I can take it off. So they start pulling out all these colors and gem stones and I start freaking out. Again no racism but I typically think of black ladies with 3 inch nails covered in nail art, not my toes. So my first thought is "AGH!" and my second thought is "Wait - I kinda like it..." And really they've grown on me ever since. Thank you little oriental girl, you were tipped well.

Well I'll Be ......

We walk in to have the ultrasound and the lady asks Brian what he does, he replies I fly on the AWACS. She laughs and says in the 30 years I've been doing this every AWACS baby has been a girl! I smile and nod and Brian looks like he could get up and leave right then. So we begin...

Two words I never thought I'd hear - flagpole.

Yes that's right after all this time I spent flappin my gums about how this baby was going to be a girl and all the rumors about AWACS babies and midwives tales and conception date theories - Brian is getting his boy and I am now outnumbered 1:3.

He is definitely a mover and a shaker and a kicker and the poor kid has Brian's feet already. Everything looked good and healthy and normal and we are super excited. As excited as I was about a girl, I'm super excited about this baby boy and I'm even more excited for Brian. He walked a little taller coming out of that room...
